Diamond Head
Climbing to the top of Diamond Head Crater is a must during your stay at our Honolulu hotel. You'll be rewarded with breathtaking 360 degree views from the peak of Hawaii’s most iconic attraction.
Diamond Head State Monument is a short 15 minute drive from Ala Moana Hotel by Mantra and while it is a somewhat challenging climb, the payoff is priceless.
A dormant volcano featuring a mountain top lookout, when you complete the ascent you’ll be in awe of the breathtaking panoramic views across the Honolulu skyline, surrounding mountains and glistening ocean. Throw on your joggers with some comfortable attire and be sure to take your camera as you’ll be witness to some incredible scenery from many vantage points.
As you climb to the top, you’ll be able to see beachgoers, surfers, sailors, kayakers and canoers splashing around in the water below. If you reach the summit early in the morning you may even get here in time to watch the sunrise – a spectacular sight which is worth waking up early for. The trail requires a medium level of fitness and takes at least 30 minutes to walk to the top but can be longer depending on your pace.
There’s also a large number of stairs to be aware of which makes the climb unsuitable for young children or people in wheelchairs. A small admission fee applies upon entry. Please don’t hesitate to speak to the team at our tours and activities desk if you require any advice or are interested in the Diamond Head Crater hike and would like further information.
