Kakaʻako Waterfront Park
Swaying palm greens, grassy hills, beautiful sunsets, turquoise waters and paved waterside pathways ideal for a leisurely stroll are what makes Kaka’ako Watefront Park so popular with tourists and locals alike.
Spanning across 35 acres, the park is just a short 10 minute drive from your Honolulu accommodation.
When departing from Ala Moana Hotel by Mantra, head to the South side of Honolulu, just off Ala Moana Boulevard at the end of Cooke Street where you’ll discover the park. There's a fantastic range of free facilities including car parking, restrooms, picnic tables, along with its very own amphitheatre. It’s also located right beside the Hawaii Children’s Discovery Center which is great if you’re traveling with kids, with just a small fee for entry.
The Kakaʻako Waterfront Park regularly attracts visitors due to its excellent amenities, central location and popular surfing spots, namely "Point Panic" and "Flies". It’s not uncommon to see locals enjoying a spot of shoreline fishing or a family picnic. While it doesn’t have a sandy beach for swimming, it’s a great place to visit if you’re looking for photo opportunities or simply wish to take in the striking scenery.
Of historical significance is the memorial dedicated to the Ehime Maru Incident victims which has been erected at the Kakaako Waterfront Park. Opened in 1992, Kaka’ako Watefront Park has become a much-loved facility near the Honolulu Financial District and worth visiting during your stay with us.
