Army Museum of Hawaii

Travel back in history at one of Honolulu’s most visited attractions, the U.S. Army Museum of Hawaii. If you have the time to spare it’s worth visiting while you are at our Honolulu hotel. It’s just a short 10 minute drive from your accommodation at Ala Moana Hotel by Mantra, or a brief 5 minute walk from Waikiki Beach should you be spending time at Hawaii’s most famous shoreline.

Whether you’re a history buff, are fascinated by war memorabilia, or would like to learn about the military history and legacy of Hawaii, be sure to stop by. Contained within Battery Randolph in the Fort DeRussy Military Reservation, it was used by the U.S. Army to defend Honolulu and Pearl Harbor. Here you’ll uncover intriguing history and examine the armor and military equipment used during World War II.

Admission is free of charge, making this point of interest highly accessible and a valuable addition to your itinerary during your time in Honolulu. Previously used as a coastal artillery, you can view the actual battery which is no longer in use, along with a collection of small arms, armor pieces and an AH-1 Cobra Helicopter.

Once you’re ready to leave the museum, you might like to check out Fort DeRussy Beach Park. It offers ample space for relaxation along with excellent facilities including restrooms and grass areas. Positioned on the beachfront you can make the most of this recreational area by relaxing under a shady tree or bringing along your swimmers and beach towel. The blue waters are inviting and if you’re lucky you might even spot a sea turtle cruising by.

You’ll feel instantly relaxed and can take time to pay homage to the history of the area in this peaceful seaside reserve.
